DBPeak
A desktop app for browsing and editing MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite databases.
Context
DBPeak is a desktop app for looking inside a database without opening heavy tools: open it, connect, see the data. It came from a real need for something quick to use while I’m developing.
What I built
A client that talks to three different databases — MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL and SQLite — from the same interface. It saves up to five connection profiles, lets you create, read, update and delete data right in the table, has an editor for running SQL queries (Ctrl+Enter) and a sidebar for browsing tables.
Credentials stay on your computer: no data is sent online.
Technical choices
It’s built with Electron and separate processes: database logic lives in the main process, the interface in the renderer, and they talk through a controlled channel instead of giving the interface direct access. That’s the right way to write an Electron app that touches sensitive resources like database connections.
The shipped code is obfuscated: the repository is public for transparency, but the licence is proprietary. You can look, not copy or reuse.
